The questionnaire deadline for the 2019 Appraisal Review Board is October 20, 2018. A Portable Document Format (PDF) copy of the ARB Eligibility Questionnaire must be received by the Administrative Judge's office in order to be considered. Any resume or application received without the questionnaire will not be considered.
As a member of the Travis Appraisal Review Board (TARB) you will sit in panels of three to listen to property owner protest of the market values set by Travis Central Appraisal District. You'll be presented with testimony and evidence by both the taxpayer and the appraisal district and will weigh that evidence to determine the fair market value of the property. Your final decision will be based upon the facts offered to you while adhering to the Texas Property Tax Code and the laws of this state.
- Must be available for full-time (8 hours per day) when scheduled during the protest season- May 1st to September 1st
- In addition to being scheduled as needed throughout the year, several days of mandatory paid training will be scheduled prior to May 1st.
- Candidates must have been a Travis County resident for the last two years
- To be considered for the 2019 season, questionnaires must be received by October 20, 2018.
ARB members are appointed by the Local Administrative District Judge for two-year terms. ARB members are not employees of the appraisal district and are not eligible for employee benefits by their review board service. ARB members are paid a minimum per diem of $150 per day.
The Local Administrative District Judge will review all questionnaires received and will contact respondents to schedule an interview. If you are selected as a candidate to serve, you will be subject to a background investigation.
