TRAVIS CENTRAL APPRAISAL DISTRICT EXTENDS PROPERTY OWNER RENDITION DEADLINE TO MAY 15

AUSTIN, Texas – The Travis Central Appraisal District is extending the deadline for property owners to submit their renditions from April 15, 2020 to May 15, 2020.

“COVID-19 is forcing property owners to make quick decisions to protect their families and their businesses. Because we know that filing a rendition may not be a priority right now, I am extending the deadline to file renditions to May 15,” said Chief Appraiser Marya Crigler.

A rendition is a form that allows a property owner to report taxable property owned on Jan. 1 and provides information including the description, location, cost, and acquisition date of the property. Examples of items that may be rendered include business inventory, office supplies, computers, and vehicles used to produce income. These items are then used to determine a property’s market value for taxable purposes. By law, a chief appraiser can extend the rendition deadline by 30 days.

To protect the health of employees and property owners, TCAD’s office is currently closed to in-person transactions. However, the appraisal district has established several ways for property owners to continue to conduct TCAD-related business, including by email, phone, office dropbox, and online.

Added Crigler, “We encourage all property owners to stay home as much as possible during this time. Downloadable forms and information on upcoming deadlines can be found on our website. Property owners needing assistance are encouraged to contact us by email or phone.”
